Hope for Healthcare:

Children being born with disabilities is significantly more common in Guatemala than it is in the U.S. Among those babies born alive with congenital anomalies, the survival rate at 42 days of life was 40.1%.(National Library of Medicine, 2020). ● Guatemala has the fourth-highest rate of chronic nutrition in the world. ● Malnutrition problems are so serious that there has been a severe impact on the physical and mental development of children, with stunted growth and low weight being common problems. Approximately 44% of Guatemalan children overall and 58% of Indigenous Guatemalan children, in particular, are chronically malnourished. ● As well, Indigenous Guatemalans face significant socio-economic barriers to medical care. (International Citizens Insurance,2023) ● Caring for these newborns and children with congenital abnormalities is very expensive. Hope for Home Ministries exists to bring glory to Jesus by caring for orphans and children with special needs in developing countries. Their multi-faceted approach to needs provides support to families who want to care for their children and provides homes when that is not possible(Hope for Home, 2008). The members of Hope for Home ministries dedicate their lives to this mission. The special needs children in this ministry are in desperate need of medical attention, and Hope for Home does all they can each month to provide that for each patient. This fund will go directly to the medical bills of this organization. They provide for 5 homes, 1 adult home and 4 children homes. Medical bills for these homes cost around $3,000 a month. They also have just recently opened 2 maternity clinics for underprivileged mothers of Guatemala in order to prevent children being born with special needs. Medication costs for these maternity clinics alone exceeds $1200 dollars a month. This expansion of their ministry has had an incredibly positive effect on the mothers and people with special needs of this community, but as a result, medical bills have only increased. In order to provide for as many people as they can, Hope for Home needs all the help they can get.

Personal Message:

My name is Gracie Rhodes, and having the honor of visiting this incredible organization last year has forever changed my life, and has truly shown me the heart Christ has for these children. Since my trip last spring, not a day has gone by where I haven't thought of that precious child in my arms. I knew from that moment that I wanted to do anything I could to love those people and try to prevent more children from enduring suffering similar to that. My partner Jasmine Drake has not yet experienced going to Hope for Home but has always had a heart for special needs children. She is eager to go through with this project and I have no doubt in my mind that when she experiences these children it will change her life just as it would change anyone else's.

Mission Statement:

Hope for Home Ministries exists to make Jesus famous by caring for children with special needs in Guatemala and Liberia and by addressing systemic issues that cause a high rate of special needs in both countries. Every day we fight to save and improve lives, and your gift will help us keep fighting. Thank you!
