Play It Forward
My name is Hunter Zierleyn, I am a Senior baseball player at Lake Mead Christian Academy. I am putting on a baseball camp for the local youth to learn the game of baseball and improve their skills. There is no cost to this camp, however I am asking for donations to help raise money to buy shoes for Children in Guatemala. School is free in Guatemala, however these children are forced by their government to wear dress shoes to school, even though many of them do not have the money to buy those shoes. I have always had a heart for helping children and when I heard about this need for money I knew I needed to try to help. The camp itself will include infield, outfield, hitting, and pitching drills all to help the young athletes learn and get better at the game of baseball. It will also have a multitude of coaches from all age levels helping out with instruction.
Personal Message:
This project is very near to me because I have played baseball basically my whole life, and I have always wanted to help kids get better and pass down the knowledge I have learned to them. On top of the baseball side of it, I have gone on missions trips every year since 7th grade. The last two years I have gone to the Dominican Republic, St. Louis, and stayed in Las Vegas. I love missions trips and I always feel the need to help others out. When I heard of the money and shoe problem, I jumped on the opportunity and really want to be able to make a difference through my Senior Project.
